There's nothing like Christmas time in New York City, and Pentataonix took over one of the Big Apple's most iconic sites â the Empire State Building â to celebrate during their exclusive iHeartRadio Holiday Pop Up Party.
During their iHeartRadio Holiday Pop Up Party, Pentatonix flipped the famous light switch to kick off a special music-to-light spectacular atop the Empire State Building synchronized to their Frank Sinatra duet "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm," from their recently-released Christmas In The City album.
The group also opened up about the once-in-a-lifetime collaboration, sharing that their producer, Dave Pierce, had a connection to the Sinatra family, which is how the song came to life. They shared, "Our executive producer on our album, Dave Pierce, he's amazing. Truly the best musician I've ever met in my entire life. And he knows the Sinatra estate and everyone involved." The group's Kirstin Maldonado added, "It was one of the covers that we had picked [from the] Irving Berlin Great American Songbook, and so we hadn't prearranged it at all. And then when we started working with Dave, he was like, 'What if you guys did it with Frank Sinatra?' And we were like, 'That would be amazing. Are you kidding?' And he has a relationship with the Frank Sinatra State and we're just so thankful that he trusted us and they trusted us and we're just so honored and so blessed."
As for what makes Christmas synonymous with Pentatonix, they shared, "A lot of it's harmony. Back in the day, like the Nat King Cole songs and Frank Sinatra, there's so much choir, there's so much harmony, and it just feels warm and cozy to hear that lush sound."
Pentatonix have been in the holiday spirit for several months now following the release of Christmas In The City. The album brings the Grammy-winning a cappella group's signature vocal magic into a wintery New York-inspired holiday soundscape. Featuring 16 tracks, it blends fresh originals like "Bah Humbug" and the titular "Christmas in the City" with jazzy take-on classics and lush medleys that evoke the wonder of first seeing Manhattanâs holiday lights. Cozy, whimsical, and classily arranged, this album marks a festive expansion of PTXâs seasonal legacy â perfect for fans looking to soundtrack their holiday with soaring harmonies and big-city cheer.
