If you've been anywhere near the internet over the last year, I'm sure you've heard of Selfie Kid AKA Ryan McKenna. But incase you haven't, let me give you a quick recap. Let's rewind to Super Bowl LII - it was February 4, 2018, the New England Patriots were playing the Philadelphia Eagles, and Justin Timberlake was playing the Halftime Show. But during the Halftime Show, the world's attention wasn't on Justin - it was on 13 year old Ryan McKenna who, when Justin Timberlake entered the crowd next to him, seemed to be much more interested in his phone than JT LITERALLY standing next to him. However, we later found out that he was trying to get a selfie with Justin and his phone died - hence his distraction. Luckily, his phone ended up turning back on and he got that coveted selfie with the entire world watching - thus, SELFIE KID WAS BORN! The Massachusetts teen became an instant meme and more importantly, a school legend. He told the Pioneer Press, "all my friends have been texting me and stuff. It's insane....I've gotten so many notifications. I've got like 36 Snapchats, like 21 DMs, and like 150 follower requests on Instagram." Currently, Ryan has over 233 THOUSAND followers on Instagram (@selfiekid) and has continued taking selfies with some of the most famous celebrities on the globe.
