Beaumont police have identified a suspect that was shot and killed by officers yesterday. Police were assisting the fire department at a house fire in the 2200 block of Fillmore when 35 year old Andy Ortiz shot an officer with what was later determined a pellet rifle. Ortiz then used that rifle in an attempt to break into a police unit to take a weapon. At that time, two officers shot Ortiz, who died at the scene. The fire was at Ortiz’s residence fire is under investigation.
