Tekashi 6ix9ine's new documentary, 69: The Saga of Danny Hernandez, is here!
The project, which gives fans a look into the controversial rapper's life, premiered on Hulu on Monday (November 16). According to the project's synopsis, it is "part investigative documentary, part real-life gangster movie."
"69: The Saga of Danny Hernandez unpacks the life of polarizing rap sensation and internet troll Tekashi69," the synopsis adds, per Complex. The documentary's summary goes on to explain how the Brooklyn rapper became "one of the most controversial figures in contemporary pop culture" with both his "sensationalist music videos and social media beefs" as well as his infamous testimony against "Brooklyn gang the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods in a landmark trial."
The documentary, directed by Vikram Gandhi, will get "up close and personal with the neighborhood locals who knew 69 when he was still just Danny Hernandez—before the hard-core persona and the face tattoos—to chronicle his meteoric rise and fall from fame and probe the harsh extremes of addiction to fame in the digital era."
It comes weeks after Anthony “Harv” Ellison, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods member who kidnapped 6ix9ine in July 2018, was sentenced to 24 years in prison. Tekashi infamously acted as a government witness, testifying against his former gang and identifying Harv as his kidnapper in 2019.
Last October, a New York City jury found Harv guilty of kidnapping in aid of racketeering. He was also found guilty of racketeering conspiracy and maiming and assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering. Harv, however, was found not guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering. While his alleged accomplice, Aljermiah "Nuke" Mack, was found guilty of racketeering conspiracy and narcotics trafficking.
When 6ix9ine took the stand in a Manhattan federal court in September 2019, he not only named names, he also revealed his role in the gang, and testified against Harv and Nuke, in regard to their connection to various gang activities, including his alleged kidnapping and robbery, which was at the center of the case.
