Texans Have The Sexiest Accent In The U.S.

We're #1, y'all!

That's according to the website Big 7 Travel, which rated the Texas accent as the sexiest accent in the nation for the second year in a row. It describes the Texas accent as a " 'Southern accent with a twist,' with strong 'r's and plenty of 'Howdy's.' "

They ain't wrong, but the list is a little strange. Instead of ranking all of the states, it also includes cities. Florida is ranked #48, but Tallahassee is #39 and Miami is #11. No Texas cities are listed despite Texas being more than twice the size of Florida.

Anyone who has talked to 10 or more Texans knows that the state doesn't have a uniform accent. There's the Spanish-influenced accent that stretches from El Paso to Brownsville and can definitely be heard in San Antonio. Texans in Port Arthur, Orange, and the like have a dash or two of Cajun spice when they speak. Austinites' accents are all right, all right, all right, while Dallas-Ft Worth is a little like George Strait meets Tommy Lee Jones.

Houston sounds a little bit like everything since it's the most diverse city in the U.S., and then there's whatever people speak in the Panhandle. Maybe it's that rich variety of sounds that has made Texas #1 for two years in a row.

The top five sexiest accents according to Big 7 Travel are

  1. Texas
  2. New York
  3. Bostonian
  4. Alabama
  5. Chicago

The least sexiest accents according to Big 7 Travel are

  3. Floridian
  4. Minnesotan
