I hear the Golden Globes were on the boob tube last night. I watched Huckabee and saw a great show about the feeling that Elvis Presley (birthday tomorrow, would have been 84) did more for integration than any congressman or president. I believe that. while Governors Wallace, Faubus and Barnett were standing at the front door of their institutions saying “integration never” (FYI all three were Democrats) Elvis was singing songs originally recorded by black singers like Arthur Crudup and Willie Mae Thornton and bringing the world together through music. His longtime guitar player was on the show with Mike Huckabee. Switching from the end of that show to the movie, “Home Alone 2” I completed a great evening without watching the GG. What a refreshing three hours. I avoided the blather of one who won an award for his portrayal of Dick Cheney in the movie (VP) along with most of the other class absent actors who again used their venom to again vilify the Republican party. Slept well, afterward, too?
