My ex-wife and I (Who I get along with very good and we pride ourselves in co-parent amazingly) recently found out that our 11 yr old has spent, without his mother’s and our prior knowledge, nearly $600 on in-game purchases on the game Fortnite. Needless to say, he no longer has an account, an Xbox and is very, very EXTREMELY limited on his cell phone use. AND he’s lucky to be alive...to quote Mandi, my ex-wife, “That game is of the devil!!”
So warning to parent who have their account(s) attached to their kids XBox and the game Fortnite: DELETE your bank’s account NOW!!
Solution: Get them a pre-paid debut card. That way they can’t spend what’s not there. And then, if they want money to spend, in the game, you have %100 control of how much you put on the card or whether or not you wanna put money on the card. And when it’s gone, it’s gone. Only down side is with most pre-paid debit cards there’s usually a small charge be transaction. Mine charges $1. But a hell of a lot better than $600!!
Lessons learned tho!
